Dr. Baldwin is a native Californian and grew up the son of an emergency room physician in the San Francisco Bay Area.  After graduation high school, he attended college at the University of California at Davis double-majoring in Classical Civilization and Physiology.  After finishing college, Dr. Baldwin took a three-year hiatus from studies to move to the Sierra Nevada mountains where he worked as a blackjack dealer and ski instructor.   

However, his goal of following in his father’s footsteps and attending medical school remained a priority.  He ultimately attended and graduated from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. While there, he began researching carotid artery atherosclerosis which ultimately led to an interest in vascular biology and disease.  During surgical residency, he returned to the University of Chicago where he undertook a research fellowship focusing on biologic therapies used to inhibit blood vessel scarring after vascular and endovascular surgery.  This research culminated in several publications and the Society for Vascular Surgery Lifeline Foundation Research Prize. 

Dr. Baldwin went on to finish general surgery residency and, subsequently, vascular fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco.  He is board certified in both vascular and general surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons He is active in numerous regional and national vascular societies as both a speaker and officer.  

Dr. Baldwin is author of over 20 peer-reviewed articles and has served as primary investigator for multiple global studies involving complex aortic disease and peripheral vascular disease.   His clinical interests include the use of minimally invasive catheter-based (endovascular) therapy for treatment of vascular disease including aortic aneurysm, diabetic peripheral vascular disease and dialysis access. Dr. Baldwin is currently the only physician in Mississippi certified to perform fenestrated repair of complex aortic aneurysms (FEVAR).  Through a combination of innovative technology and durable intervention, he is able to offer patients procedures which minimize risk and allow for a quick and uncomplicated recovery. 

Dr. Baldwin immigrated south with his wife of eleven years, Laurie, in order to be closer to her Louisiana “kin folk” and has lived in Madison, Mississippi for the past 6 years with she and their two children.
